The third and final training school was held at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, with a special focus on field robotics conducted in the Robotics and AI group’s unique underground tunnel environment research facility. This training program exposed ESRs to various aspects of conducting field experiments such as in designing and planning an experiment, sensor configurations, and data collection, processing, and analysis. The school also provided insights into the practical aspects of estimation, computer vision and perception algorithms. The ESRs were also exposed to upcoming robotics technologies like 5G-based communication and positioning systems, and neuromorphic computing. This training school motivated ESRs to test their algorithms and experiments from controlled laboratory environments to real-world sites, preparing them for their upcoming integration weeks and grand challenge within the AERO-TRAIN project.
